Water Restrictions in Melbourne
The past 10 years have been the driest on record, causing Melbourne to introduce increasingly stringent water restrictions. Currently Melbourne’s dams are around 30% full.

If you do have a rainwater tank, the rainwater is yours to use as you wish – there are no restrictions at all. It can be used externally to water the garden, wash the car, wash the concrete. Or internally to flush toilets, supply the laundry or even to supply the whole house.
